The online registration deadline is on 29.09.2026 at 11:59 p.m. After that, registration is only possible through late entry during bib pick-up.

Transferring your race entry to another person is possible until the online registration deadline (29.09.2026) for a handling fee of 10 EUR. Just send us an email at anmeldung-graz@mjk-sportmarketing.com.

We have put together a step-by-step guide to make the registration process easier for you. You can find it here.

If you received a confirmation by email or SMS after registering online at www.maxfunsports.com/register, your registration was successful. Simply print or save the confirmation and bring it with you to bib pick-up.

es, the start lists are available here. In the start list you can also see the payment status of your registration.

Yes, changing the race distance (e.g., switching from the marathon to the half marathon) is possible for a rebooking fee of €10. You can request the change either by sending an email to anmeldung-graz@mjk-sportmarketing.com before the advance registration deadline or on site during bib pick-up at CITYPARK.

Please note that due to the additional organizational effort, there is no refund of the difference in entry fees when switching to a shorter distance (e.g., marathon → half marathon). In the opposite case, an additional payment is required (originally paid amount vs. the valid entry fee for the new race at the time of rebooking).

Yes, if you are running the marathon or half marathon and additionally completing the first leg for a relay team. In this case, you must wear both bib numbers! In addition, the relay transponder must be worn on the wrist. Please also note that you should start in the start block of your main race. The relay time is recorded as net time anyway, so you won’t lose any time even if you start further back.

Public transport – Holding Graz

We ask all participants to line up correctly in the designated starting blocks (according to the assignment on the race bib).

Only runners with an official race bib are allowed to enter the starting area. Because net time is used, you will not lose a single second even if you start further back in the field. However, you will obstruct faster runners if you enter a starting block that is not assigned to your performance level. Incorrect block assignment will lead to disqualification.

Please make sure to be in your assigned starting block no later than 15 minutes before the start.

Yes, your race bib can also be picked up by another person, as long as they bring your registration confirmation.

During the race

Every kilometer is marked with kilometer signs. There are also notifications indicating an upcoming aid station and relay handover point.

To ensure we are prepared for any medical emergencies, doctors and paramedics from the Red Cross will once again be present at the Kleine Zeitung Graz Marathon and available before, during and after the races. In the start/finish area, the medical tent is located at Opernring/Burggasse. In addition, the “Running Doctors” from Wiener Städtische Versicherung will be on the course among the participants. They are marked with Red Cross beach flags and are ready to help in case of emergency.

In case of an emergency on the course, please call the general emergency ambulance number 144 directly.

Please note that accompanying participants by bicycle or other assistive devices will result in the participant’s disqualification. For safety reasons, it is also not permitted to take part in the Kleine Zeitung Graz Marathon events using a handbike or wheelchair (exceptions: City Run 5.0 and Family Run).

For all race categories, the finish and timing cutoff is at 4:00 p.m.

Certain sections of the course are easy to reach on foot. It’s best to decide before race day—using the course map—where you would like to cheer for your loved ones.

In addition, our hotspots along the course offer free cultural entertainment for all runners and spectators.
All information can be found here.

Here you will find an overview of all refreshment stations along the course.

Once again this year, a pacemaker service provided by SPORTaktiv will be available to all participants. Well-trained and experienced pacemakers run at a steady pace right from the start to help you achieve your desired finish time. Simply look for the pacemaker with the corresponding beach flag on their back in the starting area and finish with the pacemaker matching your target time.

Open Questions

Among others, participants may be disqualified for:

• unsportsmanlike or undisciplined behavior
• receiving unauthorized outside assistance, e.g., pacing by bicycle
• folding, cutting, altering, or covering the race bib
• shortening the course
• not crossing the timing control mats on the course
• starting in the wrong starting block

For organizational reasons, it is unfortunately not possible to pick up race bibs on marathon day (Sunday). If you forgot your bib at home, please go to the info tent in the start/finish area in front of the opera before the start on Sunday (you will then receive a replacement bib).

The organizer assumes no responsibility if there are not enough replacement bibs available.

The relay marathon is designed for teams of four. Only in exceptional cases (e.g., if a relay runner drops out at short notice) may another relay runner complete two sections (always two consecutive ones!), or a participant of the half marathon or marathon may take over one relay section (only the first section).

All relay teams start together with the marathon runners in start block 1, unless the first relay runner is also participating in the half marathon. In that case, they must start in start block 2 → net time will be used.

Relay handover points and distances:

Relay Marathon | Graz Marathon

Each relay team receives a transponder that must be fastened to the wrist using the supplied Velcro strap. Only transponders worn correctly on the wrist ensure accurate time recording.

Only the transponder is used to calculate the total time.

Timing mats are installed at the relay handover zones. The runner handing over the relay must pass the transponder to the next runner before crossing the timing mat.

If one runner runs (a maximum of) two relay legs, they must complete the sections consecutively. In this case, the runner must wear both assigned bib numbers and always carry the transponder as well.

If the gender composition of the team changes (Team W, Team M or Team Mixed), a change of registration must be submitted either beforehand (by email to anmeldung-graz@mjk-sportmarketing.com) or reported when collecting the bib numbers.

No, there is only a cloakroom in the start/finish area.

The relay finisher receives all four medals for the team at the finish line. No medals are handed out at the relay handover points.

You will find toilets along the course at every aid station.

If you still have any specific questions about the Graz Marathon or the supporting program, you are of course welcome to contact us by email.

Timekeeping

The race bib must be worn exclusively on the front side of the body, attached either with the supplied safety pins or with a race belt.
Only bibs worn correctly can be guaranteed to be recorded for timekeeping (bibs attached to the side or back of the body do not ensure time measurement).

In adverse weather conditions, please make sure that the bib remains clearly visible on the outside and is not covered by a jacket or rain protection.

When attaching the bib, make sure that the timing tags are not damaged by safety pins and that the tag is not bent or broken.

If the officially assigned race bib is altered in any way, especially if the sponsor print is made invisible or unrecognizable, the participant will be excluded from timing (disqualification).

With the timing tag integrated into the race bib, there is no deposit and no need to rent a chip. Picking up the starter bag on site becomes much faster and easier. Without a race bib there is no timekeeping.

Timekeeping transponders – the so-called RFID TAGs – are integrated into the race bibs. In addition, for the relay race there is a Velcro strap with a transponder that must be worn exclusively on the ankle (only this transponder counts for the relay time).

Attention: ChampionChips cannot be read by the MaxFun timing system and therefore cannot be used. Participants will not incur any additional costs.

Without a race bib there is no timekeeping!

Timing mats are placed at the start and finish. When crossing the mats, the registered tag is detected. Your time starts when you cross the start mat and stops when you cross the finish mat. To be included in the official final results, participants must cross all timing mats on the course.

Each participant receives their bib with an integrated timing tag at bib pick-up. This bib is registered exclusively to the participant and to the race category they signed up for and cannot be used for any other purpose. The timing chip does not need to be returned. Every bib with an RFID tag is checked for functionality when it is handed out. It is every participant’s responsibility to use the correct bib (registered to them and to the event).
